_AcornOur Acorn project involves Transition Year students visiting St. Mary’s Hospital on one afternoon per week. The boys have built up a great relationship with staff and patients in St. Mary’s Hospital. Activities include music and singalong with patients, construction of an outdoor crib, and patients have been writing their life experience with the boys. The residents love to talk of times and places past: the boys record the conversation and gain an enriching insight into the past. Mr. Frank Dillon is delighted with the effort the boys are putting in to this enriching activity.

_Acorn2The boys also organised their own carol singing and party in the wards just before Christmas.  Past-pupil of Colaiste Mhuire, Dick Stokes and his accordion, joined the boys and some of the sixth-year girls for a very lively round of the wards.  Residents and their carers joined in the festivities.
