Coláiste Mhuire French Language Trip 2016

This September marked the return of the French Language Trip for junior students in Coláiste Mhuire. Thirty-nine second and third year students and four teachers headed off to Paris for an action-packed 5 days of site-seeing, language-learning and fun! All students stayed with French host families for the duration of the trip which afforded them the opportunity to practice their ‘Français’.

Throughout the five days, students visited many of the main attractions in Paris such as the Louvre museum, Stade de France, Sacre Cœur Basilica, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysées to name just a few. They enjoyed a leisurely boat trip on the Seine and sampled the atmosphere in the historic Latin Quarter and the famous artistic district of Montmartre. The weather was beautiful during our stay and the trip culminated in a visit to Disneyland. (Dr. Murray is still recovering from the shock of Space Mountain!)

The boys seized every opportunity to practice their French throughout the trip; whether it was asking their host families for ‘le code du WIFI’ or bargaining with the street-sellers for souvenirs; they certainly gained some new words and experiences.

It was agreed that a fantastic trip was had by all, both teachers and students alike. The success of the trip would no doubt suggest that this will become an annual event for the students of French in Coláiste Mhuire.

Details on next years trip to follow soon.
