Budapest Music Tour
On Thursday 13th October a group of Music students from Colaiste Mhuire, travelled to the Hungarian capital,
Budapest for a music tour. Nine students, Richard Sullivan, Niall Corcoran, Mark Swaine, David Keegan, Owen Connell, Daniel Cox, Jack McCormack, Colin McGrath and Criodan O Murchu, accompanied by Mary Maguire and Ciaran Cronin, performed a selection of Irish airs, dance tunes and modern melodies, to a Hungarian audience at the Racz Aaladar Music school, and in Csomor Cultural Centre. The group visited the renownedBudapest Opera House, built in 1884, it holds the record for the Worlds third best acoustics in Opera Houses. They also enjoyed performances from Hungarian brass and woodwind bands, and an entertaining folk group. The Szechenyi Baths complex were immensely popular with the young musicians. The trip proved to be a fantastic musical and cultural experience to all. Many Thanks is extended to the parents council, school management, staff and parents for all their support.
